Occupational Heath As A Career

Occupational therapy is an allied health profession.  The term is utilised in reference to the wide range of professional groups working in mainstream health care.  More examples are physiotherapists, radiographers, podiatrists and so on.  Occupational therapists need to be trained to degree level and register with the Health Profession Council.  This council was set up by the government and is to ensure the safety of the public as well as the continuing professional development for its members.

Occupational therapists are concerned with human occupation in its widest possible sense.  It is their belief that people have an intrinsic drive to be active and to express themselves with their activities and occupations.  They understand that occupations are a main contribution to a person’s identity and their place in our society.   Think about all the roles and occupations that form your own life and existence.  Perhaps you are a partner of someone or a parent.   You might be studying at school or college or even university.  You might be employed and working your way up to the board room.   You may be a fitness addict.

Whatever your choices in life it is likely that these roles and occupations give your life direction forever.
