Whenever we hear the word “BOTOX” the majority of us often think of cosmetic surgeons in their light-blue medical outfit with a funny circular head mirror on their foreheads while holding an infusion apparatus. Well, the truth isn’t any different from that perspective except; they’re not as scary as many science fiction movies would portray them and don’t worry because they won’t turn you into some kind of Frankenstein or something. These cosmetic surgeons actually undergo a rigorous Botox Training Course and extremely difficult to pass licensure examinations before practicing in their medical specialties. So you can be assured of their ability in order to make you look younger in administering the Botox therapy.

Although several of us will not openly agree, we do have certain obsessions in vanity, which is the drive for ultimate self-gratification. Even since we were children we were trained to strive hard to be the very best in class, in physical challenges and sometimes in local and national competitions. There is basically nothing wrong with striving to be better, no, in fact, it’s very commendable to do so. However, the innocence that has abandoned us since then can turn us into sarcastic self-obsessed individuals sometimes, which can lead to unpleasant consequences in life. This obsessive attitude with vanity has been known to alter people’s decision-making to the point of hurting themselves – indirectly. Lately, we hear the news of seven and eight-year-old children dying of Botox infusion, but it wasn’t their choice to begin with as apparently their parents thought that they weren’t classy enough for the beauty contest that they participate in. These events should teach us a very important lesson: never tamper with something that we’ve completely hadn’t understood. Of course, there is a Botox Training Course that you can enroll in order to help you have a better discretion in treating people – only individuals who need it.

It recently reports from the cosmetic surgery sector of London claiming to have a big boost in their revenues due to the increase of patients who want to receive Botox treatment. With excellent results, many people in London especially those who can afford the treatment come back for more and according to surveys, this time it’s the men from the business district who pay for it. Who wouldn’t? Obviously, the Botox Training Course that these cosmetic doctors took has made them very competent health professionals who people are willing to pay thousands of dollars for a makeover.

Braces prices are not the thing that you can actually nail down with a precise figure because of the ambiguity of the way people’s teeth grow. One person may spring a tooth from one side of the mouth and require the minimal of treatment. Another’s mouth may be so overcrowded and crooked that braces prices may be very expensive. But to take creature comforts from your plight of having disorientated teeth, there is some sort of aligner or brace out there that can make you happy about the way you look. Whether you have the choice of NHS or private, there are great options out there for you at reasonable prices. With all the competition between dentists to cut prices the best they can, braces prices can vary but however, there is still a threshold- even if you have to go private- you can get anything you want when it comes to teeth straightening for around £3000. Again, for some people, this may be a tad expensive for a procedure you or your kids have to have, but have it you must to maintain the health of the mouth. For such an emotive and intrusive treatment that can possibly cut into your life for a couple of years, it would be wise to seek help on the subject from an orthodontist and once you have settled on a treatment that suits you, then you can discuss a method of paying your way to a healthy smile. Prices should never sway you from getting the treatment you need, for in the long run, it’s your health that is on the line. But there are ways to get around the initial shock of the money involved. Orthodontists can set up insurance policies that you can pay in installments and take the sting out of treatments such as braces. Some will also set you up just for a single treatment, to pay by installments.

The concept that we know as Occupational Therapy has been around for a very long time. It did seem to disappear in the medieval ages though. However in today’s modern world it has been reinitiated as a fairly new branch of medicine. In olden times occupational therapy was utilized in a basic way to prescribe to people who suffered from mental imbalance. Such therapy consisted basically of massages, baths, conversations and in some instances, travel. An occupational therapist is an individual who assists people in carrying out certain activities that are good for both their psychological and their physical health.

For a very long time occupational therapies were at logger heads with mainstream science and medicine. Many individuals were of the belief that occupational therapy alone would cure their physical and other illnesses or medical situations. Others firmly believed all these methods were just a ruse and rejected the idea. Happily there were some who rightly believed that the combination of proper medicine and occupational therapy would lead to cure of illnesses or medical situations. This latter thought was happily accepted and gained prominence and was subsequently accepted by medical and healthcare professionals worldwide but not until after the 1930’s.

To some of us pain seems to be with us on a regular basis be it a small headache or a more comprehensive problem. It could be toothache but a visit to the dentist will soon rectify that. Other pains can be helped by occupational therapy.

Occupational therapy will use a number of hands-on techniques such as a soft issue massage in order to restore movement of the muscles and give more pain free freedom to move.

Although occupational therapy is best left to the experts there are some clinics and centres that will teach you how you can manage your pain on your own via diet and exercise. They will educate you on exactly what your particular pain means and how best to handle it between therapy sessions.

Pilates and special stretching sessions are available at some occupational therapy clinics giving you the opportunity to work through your chronic pain in a more active manner. Your specific condition will be taught to you by occupational therapy so that you can understand what to expect and what you should avoid doing. It will teach you how to minimize the damage on yourself to enable you to have longer periods between massages and consequently negate the need for so many painkillers

We all suffer pain at some time during our lives unless of course we are extremely lucky. It is simply part of life. For those who suffer a lot of pain wouldn’t it be great if you could treat it so it would never return. Occupational therapy can help you with your aches and pains more than you could ever imagine.

Our body can start aching in so many different ways. We can be at work, at play or just relaxing and getting out of our armchair. Usually a couple of painkillers will suffice and we are raring to go again, pain free. However some pain can be more chronic and in no time at all hindering our quality of life. Certain pain including certain headaches and neck pains will not react to painkillers so this is where occupational therapy enters the scene.

Occupational therapy correctly administered has many benefits the obvious one being pain management. Much occupational therapy is a series of massages which will relieve tense muscles. This in turn will enable the blood to circulate more freely through the body which will ease the pain and tension. Having a massage is also very relaxing so your mind becomes more conducive to dealing with the pain.

It is very hard to describe the profession of Occupational Therapy. One common response to what they are is ‘they help you get a job! Few of us really understand the work of an occupational therapist.

Although Hippocrates was thought to have first started the art of occupational therapy all those years ago it was in World War 1 that it was in effect resurrected. One Eleanor Clark Slagel who was a social worker of the time started treating patients who were War veterans. Today’s interpretation of their problem would be described as what we refer toas traumatic stress disorder.

Ms Slagel and her helpers realised that by keeping the patient engaged in a meaningful activity it would improve their mental health. It would keep their minds occupied and activities such as leather lacing, basket weaving and lamp making were introduced for them. So, we therefore have confusion over motor skills. It was not the actual skill she and her helpers were working on but a way to elicit an improved metal health.

In today’s modern world the goal of occupational therapy is to expand the patients’ activities of daily living. In other words working with the sufferers who have mental health problems, patients with physical disabilities and those with sensory processing problems.

Occupational Therapy is rooted in physical therapy so in order to determine and fully understand where it emanates from we must first probe into the history of physical therapy. Physical therapy or physiotherapy is able to be traced back as far as ancient history. In today’s modern world the definition of Occupational Therapy is basically ‘use of productive or creative activity in the treatment or rehabilitation of physically or emotionally disabled people’. Using this definition it seems that nothing seems to have changed during those many years.

Let us use the words Occupational Therapy instead of Physical Therapy. The first example of occupational therapy was recorded in the days of Hippocrates adjudged to be the father of medicine. During 460BC Hippocrates introduced the idea of manually manipulating or massaging in order to relive the sufferers pain. In some quarters this is known as hydrotherapy. The advantages of the use of this technique were understood and taken to heart to this very day.

It is interesting to note that during World War 1 there were many people educated in occupational therapy who assisted injured and hurt soldiers to ease their pain.

In the early 1920’s a person, Mary McMillan, formulated the first ever Occupational Therapy organization in America.

A person skilled in the art of occupational therapy is a health care professional who helps patients attempt to regain their independence that has probably been lost due to physical injury, physical disability, mental or emotional disability or even the onset of old age. An occupational therapist will either be a specialist in one of these fields or will be able to assist in helping anyone regain their independence.

Occupation therapists will help patients regain their independence in assisting them to re-learn many of the basic tasks of modern every day life that many of the patients once took for granted. Occupation therapy will help those who have suffered some form of physical injury by learning again the performance of daily activities such as dressing themselves, preparing and eating food and generally attending to their own hygiene. Therapists will help patients regain their basic motor skills and functions.

The occupational therapist also needs to be adept in things like technology in order to help patients with it and show them how to use it to their advantage. This is basically for people who are hoping to get back into the workplace. The therapist may also be called upon to design special equipment or programmes to make the patients life easier.
